MCLA Celebrates the Grand Opening of their New Center for Science & Innovation

Hundreds attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ New Center for Science & Innovation in North Adams, MA. The $40 million facility is the first major construction project on MCLA's campus in 40 years.

Designed by Einhorn Yafee Prescott and constructed by Columbia Construction, MCLA’s new 67,000 sf Center for Science & Innovation will house flexible teaching and research laboratories, and a mix of office space. It features a rooftop classroom and greenhouse, a three story atrium that accommodates up to 100 people, a 72-seat tiered lecture hall and informal learning spaces. The new, state-of-the-art facility is primarily used by the chemistry, biology, environmental science, psychology and physics departments. It is also shared by the college's Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Pipeline and Berkshire Environmental Resources Center (BERC).

The new Center for Science & Innovation exemplifies MCLA’s commitment to providing a rich learning environment. The MCLA and North Adams community celebrated this grand event with many state and local dignitaries, including Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
