Spotlight On... Our Summer Interns

September 20, 2018   |   Author: Meghan O'Connor

Columbia was lucky enough to have seven interns as part of our team this summer. Representing a variety of colleges and even one high school, they brought dynamic new personalities and perspective to both our office and the field! We appreciate all of their hard work and how willing they were to learn new things and help out where needed. Good luck back at school this year, you will be missed!

Ben Weaver

School: University of Pennsylvania

"My favorite part about working at Columbia is the people. As an intern with the Interiors division, I have worked mainly with the Estimating Team, but have also worked with Project Managers and Superintendents. All took an interest in teaching me about their jobs and how to do them well, in order for me to succeed in the future."

Daiana Osorio

School: Madison Park High School

"My experience with Columbia has been great. I have learned so much working on the Google project, about work life outside of high school and how much work and effort is put into construction projects."

Johanna Astudillo

School: University of Massachusetts Lowell

Johanna very much enjoyed the people she worked with at Columbia, and we loved having her! She was able to learn about both Estimating and Project Management, and also had the chance to visit job sites to see how projects are run.

Paul Hogan

School: University of Massachusetts Lowell

"At Columbia, I learned how to analyze architectural drawings to find areas, linear footages, and counts using the On-Screen Takeoff software. I enjoyed the polite and welcoming atmosphere where people are willing to help eachother out."

Ryan Bednarek

School: Fitchburg State University

"I had a great experience with Columbia. I learned a lot in a short period of time and am very thankful for this opportunity. I learned how to read plans a lot better, and being on site taught me to be well organized - making sure the scheduling was up to date and everything was getting done on time."

Tristin Lelievre

School: Fitchburg State University

"During my summer with Columbia, I gained real-life knowledge about how a construction site is managed. I instantly saw the amount of pride that the team put into their work daily, which made it exciting to come in and work alongside them."

Vrajesh Patel

School: Wentworth Institute of Technology

"I've heard multiple people state that the most important part of Columbia is the family atmosphere, and I could not agree more. I was fortunate enough to work with such great people both in and out of the office, and gain the experience and knowledge to explore what I would like to do in my future career path. These four months have given me a background that I could never forget."
