Farmer | Dog Lover | Problem Solver

"It is great to be surrounded by a team of passionate, supportive colleagues. As someone who entered the construction industry from a different field, I appreciate Columbia's commitment to training and mentorship."

Brendan Murtha

Assistant Superintendent

Joined Columbia in 2026

Brendan has 10 years of operations management experience, combining strong hands-on expertise with proven leadership skills. A graduate of Dickinson College with a degree in Environmental Science, he developed exceptional communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities during his time as an Operations Field Manager for a nonprofit farm. His diverse background, practical mindset, and collaborative approach make him a valuable member of Columbia’s field team. As an Assistant Superintendent, Brendan supports project success by maintaining quality control, coordinating project drawings and permits, ensuring safety compliance, and helping keep projects on schedule. Brendan enjoys the fast-paced nature of construction and the teamwork required to solve challenges and deliver successful projects.

Outside of work, Brendan enjoys spending time with his wife, dogs, family, and friends, often exploring the outdoors through hiking, biking, and running, and paddling. With more than a decade of experience managing vegetable farms in eastern Massachusetts, he remains passionate about agriculture and the farm-to-table experience, from maintaining equipment and cultivating crops to preparing fresh meals. Looking ahead, he hopes to establish a small agricultural enterprise of his own and travel to Japan with his wife.
