In an effort to reduce energy costs, FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc. installed a PV solar electric system on its Bedford manufacturing facility. The solar array system contains 1,870 modules and is expected to produce about 644,000 kWh annually, which is equivalent to a reduction of 444 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
Columbia Construction provided design and construction services for this PV solar electric system which was placed on the existing roof of FUJIFILM’s facility. All of the electrical power generated by this system is back fed into the building’s existing electrical distribution equipment for immediate use.
FUJIFILM utilized Federal and Massachusetts incentive programs for this renewable energy system, including the new SREC 2 Program. It is expected that FUJIFILM will achieve a five-year payback for all costs associated with this project.
