Columbia Promotes Ryan Varney to General Superintendent

Columbia announces the promotion of Ryan Varney to General Superintendent, a move intended to strengthen connections between the firm’s field teams and its office staff, and to promote opportunity, growth, and mentorship for field personnel.

Ensuring a safe and satisfying work experience for our jobsite teams is a core priority at Columbia,” says Shawn Gallant, Chief Operating Officer, Columbia. “Working alongside Director of Field Operations Chris Hurley, VP | General Superintendent Josh Blake, and VP | General Superintendent Russ Parady, Ryan will apply his exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and collaborative mindset toward achieving these goals. Since joining Columbia a decade ago, he has consistently set a high standard for professionalism, project execution, and delivering outstanding results. We’re very happy to announce this well-deserved promotion.

Throughout his tenure at Columbia, Varney has successfully led a variety of fast-track, large-scale projects for high-profile clients across multiple sectors. Most recently, he managed the construction of a 200,000 SF manufacturing facility for a leading life sciences firm. “Ryan’s ability to provide strong leadership and guide large teams has been instrumental to the success of projects like these,” adds Gallant.

In addition, Varney was recently recognized with the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts Member Distinction Award for Safety Leadership, a testament to his commitment to creating and maintaining a culture of safety on jobsites.
